Origen and Description of Palo Santo<\/strong>
\nPalo Santo means \u201choly wood\u201d and is the common name for Bursera graveolens. Also known as \u201cquebracho\u201d by Spanish colonists since, due to its hardness, it broke axes when cut.<\/p>\n

Around 18 metres in height, it is a medium sized tree with a crown of small leaves, a great number of branches, and dark green, capsule-shaped fruits. This tree inhabits the South American region of Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Mato Grosso (Brazil). When ignited, it releases a smoke which has a series of spiritual properties making it ideal for meditation, relaxation, harmonizing intimate encounters between partners, relaxing tense situations within a family, etc. Its magic smoke can be used to cleanse our household, bedrooms, office, etc., of negative energies.<\/p>\n

The origin of Palo Santo is very old; the Inca shamans used it in their religious-spiritual rituals as a tool to bring good luck and ward off any negative signs and also as a means to obtain better spiritual communication with their gods.<\/p>\n

This tree is also present in indigenous wedding rituals. The couple must plant a seedling in the absence of witnesses to bind their destinies together so that the union lasts forever.<\/p>\n

It has a surprisingly strong and sweet scent when burned, which is why Palo Santo is used as incense. It is considered a tree with medicinal qualities. It must be noted that not all wood from the Palo Santo tree is useful. Its benefits only work when the tree has died a natural death, by its own old age. If we cut down a Palo Santo tree we won\u2019t obtain any benefits. Moreover, a tree that has died due to old age must spend a time of around 3-4 years as its natural path of decomposition progress. It is in this curious period when internally the wood of this tree results in an essence, an oil that when burned transforms into a beneficial, rich and spiritual white smoke which will cleanse our negative energies.<\/p>\n

Therefore in the recollection of Palo Santo trees, forests are not cut down; only trees which are already dead are collected in this way cleaning the forest. It is an act which is 100% ecological and protects natural resources.

It is advisable to allow a very large flame to develop to obtain an intense smoke (for a few seconds to then strongly shake your hand to extinguish it, the flame is not to be allowed to burn across the entire stick).

Origen y Descripci\u00f3n del Palo Santo<\/strong><\/p>\n

Palo Santo significa “madera sagrada” y es el nombre para la bursera graveolens. Tambi\u00e9n se le llam\u00f3 “quebracho” por los colonizadores espa\u00f1oles ya que por su dureza quebraba el hacha al ser cortado.<\/p>\n

De unos 18 metros de altura, es un \u00e1rbol mediano con copa de hojas peque\u00f1as, gran cantidad de ramas y frutos en forma de capsula color verde oscuro. Este \u00e1rbol vive en la regi\u00f3n sudamericana de Per\u00fa, Ecuador, Bolivia y en Mato Grosso (Brasil). Al combustionar, desprende un humo que tiene una serie de propiedades espirituales, que lo hacen ideal para la meditaci\u00f3n, relajaci\u00f3n, armon\u00eda en los encuentros \u00edntimos de pareja, relajar situaciones de tensi\u00f3n dentro de una familia, etc. Tambi\u00e9n su humo m\u00e1gico se puede utilizar para limpiar de energ\u00edas negativas de nuestra vivienda, habitaciones, oficina, etc.<\/p>\n

\nHay que destacar que no sirve toda la madera del \u00e1rbol del Palo Santo. Sus beneficios solo sirven, cuando el \u00e1rbol ha muerto por causas naturales, por su propia vejez. Si cortamos un \u00e1rbol de Palo Santo, no tendremos ning\u00fan beneficio. Adem\u00e1s el \u00e1rbol muerto por su vejez, deber\u00e1 de pasar un tiempo de unos 3-4 a\u00f1os, realizando su camino natural de descomposici\u00f3n. Es en este curioso periodo cuando internamente en la madera de este \u00e1rbol va origin\u00e1ndose una esencia, un aceite que a la hora de quemarse se transformara en un beneficioso, rico, y espiritual humo blanco, que nos limpiar\u00e1 de nuestras malas energ\u00edas.<\/p>\n

Por tanto en la recogida del \u00e1rbol del Palo Santo, no se talan los bosques, solamente se recolecta lo \u00e1rboles ya muertos, limpiando de esta forma la selva, en un acto 100% ecol\u00f3gico y protector de los recursos naturales.<\/p>\n

El Incienso de Madera de Palo Santo, viene cortado a modo tradicional por machete, en barritas de unos 10cm de largo, se puede utilizar cada barrita de este incienso hasta unas 15 veces.<\/p>\n

Usos del Palo Santo: Aromaterapia<\/p>\n

A diferencia de otros inciensos, el palo santo puede ser utilizado varias veces, se comercializa ya cortado en forma de barritas de unos 10 cent\u00edmetros de largo. Es recomendable que se deje desarrollar una llama muy grande para obtener un intenso humo (durante unos segundos, para luego sacudir fuertemente la mano para apagarla, no deje que el fuego arda por todo el palito).<\/p>\n

Hay que destacar que cada barrita puede oler algo distinto pues depender\u00e1 de la concentraci\u00f3n de aceites esenciales y su tama\u00f1o.<\/p>\n

Es recomendable guardar el palo santo en un envase herm\u00e9tico para que no pierda su aroma.<\/p>\n
